Recently, an exhibition made by 72 artists from 28 countries and regions was held at the Nordic Contemporary Art Center in Xiamen, Fujian. Among them, the installations completed by 12 Thai artists using local materials particularly attracted the audience's attention. In the past 10 years, the Nordic Contemporary Art Center has planned and held more than 200 similar cultural exchange activities between China and foreign countries.
The Nordic Contemporary Art Center is located in a small fishing village called Aotou in Xiang'an District, Xiamen. Its founders are Swedish-Chinese artist Wang Tong and his wife, curator Lan Lan, who is a local Xiamenite. Since its establishment in 2017, the Nordic Contemporary Art Center has become an active platform for cultural exchange between China and foreign countries, attracting hundreds of foreign artists to go to Aotou, feeling the pulse of contemporary China, and the exchange and collision of Chinese and foreign cultures.
