Danish painter, visual artist, member of Kunstnersammenslutning Corner.
Born in 1958, Anita Viola Nielsen studied at the Pietro Vannuzzi Academy of Fine Arts in Perugia, Italy, the Museum Drawing School at the Copenhagen Academy of Arts and the University of Copenhagen.
She often went to Italy to look for the scenery she wanted, more precisely speaking, the urban scenery. In Rome, traces of art which development over thousands of years can be seen everywhere, providing artistic inspiration for her exploration.
Her urban landscapes receive certain acclaims within the art world for her depictions of inner and outer reality: traces of human life permeate the streets and parks of Rome in her paintings, but humanbeings themselves are rarely seen. Instead, scenes such as cars, benches, and statues often appear in her paintings.
When she visited China in the mid-1980s, she was deeply attracted by the beauty of Chinese patterns. Those circuitous brushstrokes shown in her works to outline the sky, trees, roads, fireworks and backgrounds all reflect the significant influences of Chinese art on her.
