On August 17, Nordic Contemporary Art Center（Xiamen） hosted a spirited dialogue probing into the very essence of art. Hosted by curator Ouyang Lihong, this Artist Talk with Zhuan Zeng centered on painter’s artworks, life experiences, and authentic artistic expressions. The dialogue advanced through four interrelated dimensions, originating, generating, symbiotizing, and germinating, to deepen the exchange of critical reflections.

Participants from diverse fields including education, healthcare, business, art, and everyday aesthetics engaged in discussion reflecting on the definition of art, its authenticity and creative force, as well as its broader functions.

The guests engaged in in-depth dialogue with painter Zeng Zhuan. They appreciated his paintings on site and raised their own questions. Through this Artist Talk, Zeng’s artworks gained broader understanding and appreciation, and six of these works had successfully been collected on the spot.

The curator also announced the plan to launch an art foundation established by Director Lan Lan and artist Tong Wang.

“My paintings and expressions are intended to tell viewers not to be a person like me. I merely hope that through my artworks, people can get a bit more peaseful feelings in heart. Yet, if someone can discern a sense of pessimism within my artworks, I have to admit that he or she is likely someone who truly understands me.” - Zhuan Zeng
